Open Arts studio placements are now on a Thursday and Friday opposite HOFS, in 'The Cottage' Ground Floor, Salvation Army Hall, 146-148 London Road Hadleigh SS7 2PF
Sessions are 10am to 11.45am / 11.45am to 1.30pm (closed 1.30pm to 2pm) 2pm to 4pm
Continuing weekly until end of March.
A safe and supported space for you to work on your own projects or use the art materials available.
Up to ten people per session. Sessions are Thursday and Friday 10am till 11.45am, 11.45 to 1.30pm and 2pm to 4pm.
We ask for £5 for the session if you are able to pay or speak to Jo to find out about other options available. Donations welcome.

Week four 7th February - Collage Portraits
Using magazines and other found papers, card or ephemera, we will select, cut out and assemble a surreal portrait. All materials will be supplied but if you wish to bring items, magazines, print outs etc please do!
Week five 14th Feb - Oil Pastels - A wonderful, vibrant colourful medium which we will draw and paint with, exploring loose mark making practises and texture creation. Have some fun experimenting with the bold and vibrant colour palette.
Week six 21st Feb - Lino Cut, print we will explore the possibilities of this print technique, designing and carving your own lino printing block, then printing with it! Creating repeat patterns or images with so many possibilities!
Keep everything! They can be fantastic to work over or to include in the journals we make later…
Week seven 28th Feb - Print (continued) we will continue with carving or printing our lino block and explore other print options.
Week eight 7th March - Silk Painting, Spring Flowers - we will work on an A4 piece of silk, tracing an image or pattern, using a special outliner and then filling the shapes with the vibrant colours and exploring some of the many techniques with this amazing medium.
Week nine 14th March - Sketchbook/Journal Making – We will explore the world of book Art, a start towards a journaling adventure. You will learn some basic folding and simple sewing techniques. We will fold a mini book from a page as well as create an expandable upcycled, A5 journal -which can incorporate pockets, fold out pages and other interesting backgrounds.
Bring with you any papers / prints/ or work you have created and you wish to include
Week ten 21st March – Wet felt Land/sea scape We will explore how, using only soap water and the natural colourful wool fibres, we can create a beautiful landscape, or abstract piece with so many uses! If possible, please bring a towel!
Week eleven 28th March - Needle felting Easter – Create your Easter egg or themed ornament using a special needle to felt using a selection of colourful wool and bit of poking!
Bring your wet felted panel if you want to add fine details!
A safe and supportive space to work on your own projects or take part in our activities. Stay for as long or short a time as you like. If you would like to join in the activity please attend from the start of the session.

This is a 12 week art course which aims to increase confidence and skills by having fun with new art techniques. We hope that by the end of the course you will feel confident to move on to join other groups or classes in your local area, or just to move on in whichever way suits you best.
